How to Reach Those Hidden Areas

Here are cleaning guides for some common household appliances typically found in a short-term rental (STR):

1. Refrigerator:

  • Step 1: Remove all items from the refrigerator.
  • Step 2: Remove shelves and drawers.
  • Step 3: Use a solution of warm water and dish soap to clean these parts.
  • Step 4: Wipe down the interior of the fridge with the same solution.
  • Step 5: Dry shelves, drawers, and the inside of the fridge before replacing the parts.

2. Microwave:

  • Step 1: Remove the turntable and its support, wash with soapy water.
  • Step 2: Wipe down the interior using a solution of 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon of vinegar (microwaved for a few minutes to loosen grime).
  • Step 3: Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth.

3. Oven:

  • Step 1: Remove the racks and soak them in a soapy water solution.
  • Step 2: For the interior, make a paste of baking soda and water.
  • Step 3: Apply the paste inside the oven and let it sit overnight.
  • Step 4: Wipe down the inside with a damp cloth.
  • Step 5: For stubborn spots, use a vinegar-water solution.
